Good morning teachers and fellow classmates. I am going to speak for the motion Advertising should exist.

The main reason why we have advertisements is that through advertisements businesses can let customers know about the existence of their products and make customers interested in their products. Advertisements also helps the customers make better decisions while buying and use their money to get better products.
You would have continued buying the old product and you would never even try the new one, which may be better and cheaper than the old product you used to buy.

A lot of times the advertisement is very catchy and when you go to the store you would remember the ad and buy the product. But if it weren’t advertised then you wouldn’t know about that product or remember its name and wouldn’t buy the product.


Advertisements also help in finding jobs and for employers to find employees. If there were no advertisements you probably wouldn’t know about a certain job. But if you knew there was a job you were interested in you would most likely apply for the job and go for a job interview.


Advertisements are also useful in getting help. For example, if you lost your dog or any other item and put up an advertisement for it someone who has found it can return the dog or lost item to you but if you never advertised you might lose it forever.

People advertise for movies, schools, camps, concerts etc. For example, how many people would have gone for the Black-eyed peas concert had it not been advertised? If the release of new movies was not advertised you would never know it was in theaters or in which theatres it was running and you wouldn’t see it. If there was a really good school/college and they never advertised nobody would even know about it or find out more about it

Research shows that advertisements do influence people to try new products, which lead to more sales for the companies.

This is why we need advertisements!

Topic- Advertising should exist-FOR

I feel advertising should exist because people get to know what is getting sold or if any product has improved or if anything is new which is getting sold in the market. By watching ads we change our minds sometimes. For making advertisements we need people so people get jobs. Because of advertisements we have sponserers for our television shows and because we have TV shows we get entertainment. So we really need ads and advertisement jobs are very important and our very useful.

Inter House Quiz

Inter House Quiz Compitition

Our Inter House Quiz Compitition was on 15th of October. There were some parents who had come to see the quiz. We all were sitting and watching the quiz. I was listening to the questions and thinking of the answer. I got involved into the quiz compitition.I loved this quiz because it was really interesting and it was for our age but in my old school we had to watch the 10th grade's quiz which was really boring for me.

Our naw UOI topic

Our new UOI topic is "powers of persuation". We are now settled to go on with our research. We our now researching about advertising. This topic great fun. I enjoy watching, observing and writing about what happened in advertisements. I like working with my group. I think I am going to enjoy this whole topic.

InterHouse Quiz

The InterHouse Quiz was hosted for 4th and 5th grade on 15 October. I was in the quiz for Orion. I was very nervous. At the last question was for Orion, since Mrs. Poonam put a microphone in front of the radio it sounded like a banjo because Mrs. Poonam put the microphone in front of the radio, and the answer was actually guitar so for 5th grade Phoenix got 1st, Orion got 2nd, Hercules got 3rd, and Pegasus got 4th. For 4th grade Orion got 1st, Phoenix got 2nd, Pegasus got 3rd, and Hercules got 4th.

the interhouse quiz competition

yesterday we had the quiz competition.i was really nervos cuz i was in the orion team. ms. poonam had every thing dead fancy .we did in front of the teachers and students of grade 4 & 5 also some parents.the tams were ....

orion- me, victoria,hugo & ruchi

phoenix- sunanda, heejoo,nikhil& varchas

hercules-sacha,alex,nikhil & archana

pegasus-sukeerth,alexander, vishnu& vineet

some questions were easy and some were not. orions bad luck made us get the most difficult questions all the time !!

we had to .... answer some GK questions (multiple choice & no choice), identify some famous people & listen to a instument for a few seconds and name it .

i practiced mostly capital cities but there were hardly any questions on them

at the end the winner was phoenix whith orion at second place pegasus and hercules close behind it was a very exciting morning . what i hate the most is that almost all of us new answers to questions but were to nervous !!!!!also when ms.poonam put the mike to the radio it sounded like a banjo but it was actully a guitar so thats why we lost .

Our present UOI topic

our present uoi topic is the "Powers of Persuasion".we recently started this topic.it is fun and very interesting.i am my groups leader.we are doing on radio.it includes about media and advertising.recently someone bought us an article on how junk food ads have to remark that if it is healthy for them or not.in the begginning of the topic we even did a survey.very soon we are goin to have our formative assesments and after that we are going to have our summative assesments which we would have to make our own ads.this week we were given sites to research on and find out the answers to the given questions as homework.i think that the week coming we are going to learn about how to make a good ad.right now we were making our charts and on the monday we are going to have our formative assesments.we have even been given a job to do like the questions we had been given we had to get the answers and make a word document or a power point presentation or a small booklet.i am sure we are going to enjoy this topic as it is very interesting.

New UOI Topic

Our old UOI topic was Thanks to the Past, now we have entered a new topic called Powers of Persuasion. We have already learned a lot during the past days, we learned about persuasion, advertisements, media, mass media, and logo's. We also have done a survey asking questions about ads, if you are interested in them, what media's do you think are best for ads etc. We brought 3 ads we disliked and we brought 3 ads we liked to class. Then we brought 5 logo's to class.

5th grades new topic is called 'the power of persuation' we have been learning where are advertisments. we interviewed people on their opinion of advertisments. we are enjoying what we are learning.

our new UOI topic is really exiting .it is called POWERS OF PERSUASION we learn about advertising . it is really interesting we have been learning about the things in a ad . ms. poonam made a fun introducement to our topic by some cool mindmaps. we even found out that they advertise for marrying (yuck !!!!!!!). we have found some ads wich we like and some we dont .its a great idea for a topic as its part of every day life . i like the fact that it is mostly modern day stuff this topic even connects to our last topic cuz the ancient civilizations advertised there own entertainment. i like this topic alot and it is really interesting. i think itz gonna be really fun !!!!

Our trip to Nandi Hills

Our trip to Nandi Hills was great. It was on the 5-10-2007 which was a friday. We all danced in the bus. When we reached Nandi Hills I was exited to see what is going to happen next. We had to climb the hill a little. After reaching the peak we went to 3 temples which were 2000 years old but they actually didn't look like 2000 years old. Then we went to the Tippu Drop which was the place where Tippu Sultan punished the people who were bad like the thieves, criminals etc. We then went to the place where there was the bull of Lord Shiva. Next to that there was a cave which was called the Bhramasham. When I went inside the cave I got to know that the people who were called Sanyasis used to come there and meditate for about 40 days. After that place we went to resturant and had coke. We left from there and climbed down the hill. Then we went to another temple which was 1 hour from the hills. That was a really big temple! We saw a water snake inside the holy bath. After that we got on the bus and went back home. I did want to get back home because this trip was so great!

our trip to nandi hills

today we had loads of fun while we were going we danced that was so fun.then when we reached their it was so scary because there were many monkeys around.we saw an ancient temple which was built 2000 years ago and it was still in good condition.then we saw another temple which was the ganesha's then we even saw a shivas temple after that we even saw the nandi bull and then the brahamashram.the brahamasharam was acave in which a sage used to sit and meditate.after that we went to a restraunt to get something to drink.i got a sprite.then we went to see the nandiashram.we saw a temple which wasz actually made int he9th century then things kept adding in till the 15th century.in the nandi hills area there were many monkeys and many dogs.we even learnt a myth there that the dogs would have been temple thieves in their last birth and got reborned as dogs and took care of the temples.the carvings in the temples were very good.in the nandi hills we even saw a tipudrop.it was a cliff.it used to be used by tipusultan.whenever tipusultan wanted to give someone a very severe punishment he would push him by the cliff.the nandihills was made for three kings.there were even many baths in the temples.we even saw ancient wells.

The student council day

The student council day was on 29-9-2007 which was a saturday. First when I heard that I was the sports captain I felt really happy. I first want to thank Ms Poonam for selecting me as the sports captain. On the day I was really excited but as we went with the program I stared feeling giddy.
