Orville Wright was born on August 19th, 1871 in Dayton Ohio. He had a brother named Wilbur who was 4 years older than him. His parent’s names were Bishop and Catharine Wright. Since Orville was a kid he was a great biker. The first thing that the two brothers made was a sled. All of their friend’s dads made sleds for them but the two brother’s dad was on a trip. One day they told their mom about this and their mom drew a picture and the boys made the sled. This taught the boys that they always should draw a picture before making something and if there picture is wrong the invention is wrong. One day the brother’s dad brought home a toy helicopter. This toy inspired the Wright brothers first interest in flight. One day in 1881 Orville’s family moved to Richmond, Indiana. In Richmond Orville picked up how to build kites. He kept on using the drawing strategy his mother taught him. In 1884 the moved back to Dayton and since Orville was such a good biker they started a bike shop. Orville participated in bike races too. This is how they got there money. One day they got inspired in flying again they went to the sand dunes in North Carolina and made a glider. When they told people about this everyone thought that they were crazy. Then they added an engine to it and showed everyone that they could fly. Orville flew it. They were the first men to fly and became famous.
I think that both Orville and Wilbur are both heroes because they made the first flying machine and without them we would have to use car and boat and that would take days and days and days on end.
